the critical exchange network invites artists in and around southampton to show a body of work and take part
in a question and answer session about this work. it uses the liz lerman critical response process to help
artists answer questions about their projects and processes.
the event took place over an evening and attendees had an opportunity to view the work before taking part in
a facilitated discussion with me, the artist. prior to the session, i was supported to develop a list of
questions that i wanted the attendees to consider as part of the discussion.
i chose to show pieces that i had been working on for the last year, including the tryptych and the our
bodies_your spaces paintings. having to arrange and install the work gave me the freedom to experiment
with different ways to visually tie the pieces together.
the who who who works had never been seen in public and i was interested to
see that many of the attendees kept returning to examine them.
i left the night with a lot of useful feedback and encouragement. i am grateful for being invited to take
part and the event has helped me strengthen my local connections.
