The Last Train (2025)



I remember the first computers and then the first games consoles but have only started to understand the labour and care that goes into making a game. 

A game is a complex task of balancing content against mechanics and each game platform has its own constraints. 

The job of a games designer is to promote play through world building. Games promote play and, I think, play is something we need more of. 
I had the opportunity to design a prototype game as part of my MSc and I called it The Last Train. It is informed by glitch theory, masculinity studies and takes its inspiration from my lived experience as a gay cis-gendered man. 

The images and music are by me. Well, except for a cover based on Rufus Wainwright’s ‘Art Teacher’...
